With Causelink desktop software on the market for over three years now, our clients see the benefits of standardizing their problem solving program around an intuitive software tool.  From defining cause and effect, documenting evidence, or generating PDF reports, the software certainly makes problem solving easier for individual users.

After our first release of the desktop software, we conducted customer interviews and learned that people wanted more capability when it came to team collaboration and learning from past analyses.  Based upon this feedback, we released Causelink Enterprise software in October of 2012 and have just released the version 2.0 update to the browser-based Enterprise system.

Causelink Enterprise helps teams get more benefit out of the problem investigation work they are already doing.  With resources tight and a renewed focus on improving safety, quality, and reliability, this software helps investigation teams in the following ways:

  1. Team Collaboration:  With data stored in a central location, it’s easy to learn the status and next steps of ongoing investigations.  Automated emails and action tracking help ensure that investigation teams are up to date and that action items are being addressed.
  2. Lessons Learned:  The software makes it easy to search past analyses by keyword, group, or RCA type to see how similar problems have been solved in the past.  Better yet, proactive teams are able to review investigation history and come up with lessons learned that can be periodically shared during team meetings.  Sharing the most important lessons is also a great training tool for new recruits.
  3. Common Cause Reporting:  This powerful report searches for causes in all RCAs in the system and finds commonalities.  This helps your team understand patterns across incidents, some of which are systemic causes in your organization.  For example, after uploading 35 examples from numerous industries and disciplines at www.causelink.com, the common cause report shows that “design” is a contributing cause in 15 of those RCAs.  Furthermore, five of these design-related causes had solutions applied to them to help prevent recurrence, such as “Implement standard operation process of performing quality control checks on engineering designs prior to manufacturing”.  If you found that a plant in another location successfully implemented this solution, wouldn’t you consider implementing it in your plant before problems occur?
These are just a few of the benefits of storing your problem investigations in a central database.  Causelink Enterprise also makes it easy to generate PDF reports for individual analyses, store and protect evidence, and manage the workflow for each investigation.

We’ve priced the software to make it accessible to companies large and small.  Combine that with our terrific customer support during installation, implementation, and maintenance, and you find that the risk of implementing Causelink Enterprise is low.  When comparing the risks with the software benefits, you'll see that it’s riskier to do nothing than to give your incident investigation teams the right tools for the job.  Don’t just take it from me – see for yourself and sign up for the free Causelink Enterprise trial.
